How to Use Google Lens to Identify Plants and Antiques
Google Lens is like a smart magnifying glass that can identify almost anything you point your camera at. Whether you are wondering if a plant in your garden is a weed, or if that vase at the thrift store is valuable, this free tool gives you answers instantly. It turns your smartphone camera into a visual encyclopedia.
Step 1: Open the Google App You probably already have this app on your phone.
Look for the "Google" app icon (the colorful 'G') or the search bar on your home screen. On the right side of the search bar, you will see a little camera icon. That is Google Lens. Tap it to open the camera view.
Step 2: Point and Search Now, treat your phone like a camera.
Point your phone at the object you want to identify—let's say, a mysterious flower in your backyard. Tap the shutter button (the magnifying glass icon) at the bottom of the screen. The screen will freeze, and little dots will appear over the object as the AI "thinks."
Step 3: Read the Results In less than a second, results will pop up from the bottom of the screen.
It will show you photos that look similar to yours and tell you the name (e.g., "Hydrangea"). If it’s an antique, it might show you similar items for sale on eBay so you can guess the value. It’s perfect for garage sales, nature walks, and solving household mysteries.
